But according to series star Sadie Sink, whose character’s life was completely saved by the song, she never heard of Bush or her music until working on the scene, but she’s since gone back to correcting the situation.
“I didn’t know Kate Bush beforehand, but then I immediately researched her work and then got more and more obsessed, and then I listened to her all the time,” Sinek said. diverse (Across digital spy).
She continued, “Knowing the emotional connection she has with that song and how it’s kind of her anthem, she played in it,” Sink said. “It’s something about the energy of the song, the synth and the lyrics and everything. It’s so perfect. They couldn’t have picked a more perfect song.”
“Running Up That Hill” is the song that saves Sink’s character, Max, from Vecna’s brutal curse when her friends put her headphones on her to blast the track as her mind seems to be shifting to the Upside Down. The song allows her to reconnect with the real world and escape and urges her to keep listening to the song in a loop to prevent her mind from leaving her body again. For Sinek, the same kind of frequent listening helped her get into Max’s mindset.
“I had a whole day in when I was just home and kept playing in the background all day, just to see if I was going crazy, because that’s what Max had to do,” Sinek said. “I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve listened to ‘Running Up That Hill’. It’s been a lot, but I still don’t get bored of it, which is good.”
As for the song, it has found a whole new audience since the release of the first part of the fourth season of Stranger Things. The song recently hit #1 on the official UK charts last week, nearly four decades after its initial release, something that prompted Bush to make a relative A rare statement on her website.

In this latest series, the characters face many of the same challenges that exist in real life right now.
